What makes us different?

Built on the success of our in-person programs and informed by our ongoing research SafePlay was created to provide a safe, supportive, and accessible space for young people to connect through online gaming. Every session is hosted on our private, whitelisted servers in tandem with Zoom. SafePlay is led by allied health professionals, educators and team members with lived experience of neurodivergence, ensuring our participants are not only supervised, but their individual needs are also truly understood and supported.

Our sessions are designed for children aged between 8 and 15 years old in Australia or New Zealand. Our Minecraft, Roblox, and Lego Fortnite programs run in 8-week blocks throughout the school term, with additional holiday programs offered during school holiday periods. Our SafePlay Everyone Group is open to any and all gamers, while our SafePlay Girls+ Group is open to players who identify as female, non-binary, or gender diverse.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to join a SafePlay session?

We will provide guided instructions on how to connect your gaming device to our private games and servers. All you will need is your gaming device and Zoom, our communication application.
We recommend a secondary device such as a phone or tablet—not the same device you are gaming on.

For Minecraft:
You will need a device that can run Zoom, a copy of Minecraft: Bedrock edition, and a compatible gaming device, such as:
– Xbox
– Nintendo Switch
(Please note- you must own the digital version of Minecraft, Nintendo game cards will not work)
– PC
– iPad
If you are using an Xbox or Nintendo Switch, you will also need an Xbox Live or Nintendo Switch Online subscription that allows you to play online.
Unfortunately Mac and PlayStation devices are not compatible with our Minecraft: Bedrock server.

For Roblox:
Download the free Roblox application.
Roblox is not supported on Nintendo Switch or Linux operating systems.

For LEGO Fortnite:
Download the free LEGO Fortnite application.
Our
LEGO Fortnite sessions are available on all platforms, including web-based cloud gaming.

Depending on your NDIS plan inclusions, you may be able to claim SafePlay sessions using NDIS funding. Please confirm this with your local area coordinator and/or plan manager before registering for SafePlay. Please let us know if you require any supporting documentation for NDIS and we would be happy to help: press-start@nextlvelcollaboration.com

Yes! We accept late enrolments for the remaining sessions of the term. The program fee will be adjusted to reflect the number of sessions left.

We find that our programs are the best fit for players aged between 8 and 15 as a guideline, but we know our players are individuals with diverse needs. If your child is outside this age range but you think they will be a good fit SafePlay, please get in touch with us and we will help you assess whether the program is right for them: press-start@nextlevelcollaboration.com

Unfortunately the Java version of Minecraft is not compatible with our server. You will need the Bedrock version to join.

Unfortunately mods cannot be used on our Minecraft server as they can cause compatibility issues for other players.

SafePlay sessions are consistently supervised by trained adult facilitators on both the session Zoom call and in the SafePlay games. All voice and text chat logs are monitored by adult session facilitators, and participants are provided with consistent support to play, build, and create together in positive and inclusive ways.

The safety of our SafePlay participants is our highest priority. If a SafePlay participant would like to connect with a friend outside the sessions, we’ll work with families to ensure all communication remains safe and appropriately monitored.

Yes! SafePlay sessions run online, so they are open to families who live anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.
